Dental Implants

What are they?

A Dental implant is a small man-made titanium fixture which serves as the replacement for the root portion of a natural tooth.

What do they do?

Essentially they act as a foundation for crowns, dentures or bridges. There are many possible ways in which we can use implants. They can be used for simple cases, where we replace one missing tooth, to complex cases where we give teeth back to someone that has lost al there teeth in the past.

How long do they last?

For over 40 years, dental implants have offered a way of replacing teeth completely and long-term. They have convincing success rates of 96% after 15 years.

Are there any limitations?

Yes. An implant require a certain amount of bone to hold them in place, just like the roots of teeth. There are occasions when insufficient bone is available and new bone needs to be grafted before an implant is placed.
