Dentistry is simple; educate people so they can look after themselves, provide them with the best care you can, refer when you can't and continue to learn as much as possible about teeth.
Unfortunately working for another dentist doesn't allow you to follow your own path; so we set up Spires Dental Clinic.
We set up a brand spanking new dental practice, and look after our clients in the way we knew best. Through pure serendipity we found each other and forged a great team: David is our clients best friend and makes sure they are catered for in every way, Tina is a nursing nut and disinfects everything that moves (including me sometimes), and Beth keeps our systems working in-between nursing. And me...well I just love dentistry
Since the early days we have recruited two fantastic hygienists (Helen and Hayley) who provide our clients with a very high level of gum care that I haven't seen mirrored in my 16 years of dentistry.
Over time we are becoming more and more convinced that our way of doing dentistry is the right way....our clients see us less, need less dentistry and are becoming friends of the practice.
We are a different type of dental practice to what people normally find. Our difference stems from our philosophy about dentistry; we like to call it Altruistic Dentistry.
Dentistry can be very reactive; the dentist waits for a problem and then acts. This cannot be the right way for two reasons:
Our aim is to assess each of our clients as an individual, and then put a plan in place that so they can attain (or maintain) a trouble free, low maintenance mouth. If a problem is detected we look at why it has occurred, resolve the problem and put in measures to eliminate the risk factors so that there is less chance of recurrence.
Our clients need less and less dentistry over time, spend less money on their teeth and gain more confidence in their smile. We've been doing this for years now and we know this is the only way to care for our clients.
